Professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (University of Deusto). Director of the Deusto Cities Lab Chair. Member of the Leisure and Human Development Research Team (recognized as category A). He has been Director of the Leisure Studies Institute (2000-2007) and Vice-Rector for Communication, Plurilingualism and Social Innovation (2007-2015). Research laboratories and publications focus on governance for the sustainable development of cities. Member of the Advisory Committee of the Basque Country 2030 Agenda. Member of the Bilbao Civic Council. Former Chairperson of the World Leisure Policies Commission. Former Member of the Board of Trustees of the Etxepare Institute, Azkue Foundation, Etorkintza Foundation and Basque Social Innovation, the Bilbao Mobility Forum and the Bilbao Bizkaia Design Creative Council.
